Billing & Subscriptions
How Free desktop use, Free accounts, Pro billing, cancellation, and account changes work today.
Current commercial state
Free desktop use, Free accounts, and self-serve Pro are the current public offering. Desktop can run without an account; account features and billing are handled through the production Spanna account system.
What Free includes
- Desktop app access with no sign-in required: local Vault, local folders, and local saved connections.
- Free account sync: encrypted saved connections and connection folders across signed-in desktop installs.
- Up to 5 saved connections, 2 active connections, and 100 docs per result page.
What Pro adds
- Browser client access with full CRUD from client.spanna.app.
- Saved queries, query library, settings sync, and advanced workspace extras.
- Unlimited saved connections and higher active-connection limits.
- Larger query result pages and unlimited history.
- Advanced collection workflows including heavier import/export and copy/move tools.
- 7-day free trial — no charge for the first 7 days, cancel anytime before then for no charge.
Billing platform
Pro checkout and subscription management are handled through Paddle. If you already have an active Pro account, subscription management is available from the account area through the Paddle customer portal.
Current pricing model
The current public pricing surfaced on the website is the active Paddle annual or monthly plan for Pro. If pricing changes, the website and checkout flow are updated together.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. During your 7-day free trial, cancellation is immediate and no charge is made. After the trial, access continues until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by law or explicitly changed in your billing agreement.
Wrong account / activation issues
The most common billing issue is paying with one email address and signing in with another. If your Pro status is missing, contact billing support at hello@spanna.app with the checkout email and the account email you intended to use.
Refunds
Refunds are currently handled manually. The 7-day free trial is the primary safety net for trying Pro risk-free. If you need help with an invoice or refund request after the trial, email hello@spanna.app.
Commercial policy items still being formalised
Operational details that may be refined as usage grows:
- Monthly vs annual default plan presentation.
- Formal refund window beyond the 7-day trial.
- Tax / invoice handling for different regions.
- Exact retention and downgrade behaviour for Pro-only workspace extras when Pro lapses.
